PET SHIMMERS MORTAL SPORT ARGONAUT/SUPER NATURAL TEETH

Channelling the glitchy grooves and whimsical nursery rhyme-inspired vocals of Micachu and The Shapes, Bristol-based collective Pet Shimmers are elevating bedroom pop to a whole new level. Following last month's summery lo-fi anthem 'Feels Hz', which featured backing vocals by Goat Girl, double A-side 'Mortal Sport Argonaut/Super Natural Teeth' is another step in the right direction. Featuring everything from over-blown synthsizers to clean acoustic guitar strums and ascending alien sound effects, 'Mortal Sport Argonaut' sounds like an accessible video game soundtrack pulled kicking and screaming out of the virtual world by Oliver Wilde's distinctive chilled-out vocals. On the other hand, 'Super Natural Teeth' is a slightly more downbeat affair, anchored by a highly-processed drum machine beat as the group's intricate vocal harmonies lead the way through a series of surreal guitar, synth and even brass interludes.
